 AG&F VOTES PARTIAL CHANGE PACKAGE
After much feedback from the public, commissioners from the Arkansas
Game and Fish Commission today tabled until their May meeting a
decision on a portion of the upcoming deer season package. At the
same time, commissioners approved a portion of the proposed deer
season dates.

Deer seasons approved by the commission:
Archery/Crossbow Zones 1, 2, 3, 4, 4A, 5, 5A, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12,
13, 14, 15, 16, 16A and 17: Oct. 1, 2003-Feb. 15, 2004. Statewide bag
limit applies. No dogs.
Gun Zones 1, 2 and 3: Nov. 8-16 and Nov. 27-Dec. 7, 2003. Legal bucks
only (does may be taken by holders of zone quota doe permits). No
dogs.
Zone 4: Nov. 8-9, 2003. Statewide bag limit applies. No dogs.
Zone 5: Nov. 8-9, 2003 and Nov. 15-16, 2003. Statewide bag limit
applies. No dogs.
Zones 6, 7, 8, 10 and 11: Nov. 8-16 and Nov. 27-Dec. 7, 2003. Legal
bucks only (does may be taken by holders of zone quota doe permits).
Dogs allowed.
Zones 16A and 17: Nov. 15-Dec. 25, 2003. Statewide bag limit applies.

Muzzleloader Zones 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 10 and 11: Oct. 18-21 and Dec.
20-22, 2003. Legal bucks only (does may be taken by holders of zone
quota doe permits). No dogs.
Zones 4, 4A, 5, 5A, 9, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 16A and 17: Oct. 18-21 and
Dec. 20-22, 2003. Statewide bag limit applies. No dogs.
Gun Zones 4A, 5A, 9 and 16: Nov. 8-Dec. 7, 2003. Statewide bag limit
applies. No dogs.
Zones 12, 13, 14 and 15: Nov. 8-Dec. 7, 2003. Statewide bag limit
applies. Dogs allowed.
The proposed statewide season bag limit of three deer may be voted on
at the May 15 meeting. A bag limit may contain only two legal bucks
and one doe. Under no circumstances can a hunter harvest more than a
total of three deer, except by deer camp doe tags that are issued
through the commission's Deer Management Assistance Program (DMAP).
The proposed change in the deer muzzleloader season would also affect
the bear muzzleloader season. Bear muzzleloader season in bear zones
1 and 2 would also be from Oct. 18-21
